Why We Don't Write Our Books
In the ten years that Ive taught people how to get on with their books, Ive noticed a phenomenon that Ill call Authors Block. Would-be writers can, indeed, sit down and work when pressed to it. The problem is that theyre not so sure they want the pressure of being an author. But they do want to. But they dont. And so on.
Ah, the agony of getting on with your book.
Well, Im here to diffuse that situation with a list of what I think are the key reasons we dont immediately set down to write. Perhaps this will help the next time you find yourself polishing doorknobs instead of sitting down to write.
We lie to ourselves about why we cant write the book. We think our stalling is about lack of time, or too much pressure at work, or not enough solitude in the evening. But guess what? Chances are a deeper, darker reason may be at play, like Im not supposed to be bigger than Mom or What if this thing really takes off?
We fear the impact our book could have. Sometimes when I coach writers in my self-help authors crash course, Ill ask them whats impeding progress. And after some probing, it will come out that theyre afraid of the big exposure a book can have if it takes off. Im here to assure you that should that happen, (and chances are your book will not unleash wild mobs of millions) you will be able to handle it. How do I know? On that deep level where psyche meets karma, you wont create a reader more than youre ready to receive.
We think our book doesnt matter, so why bother? One writer I know put this so succinctly: Ive tried getting up at 5AM to write, and staying up late, and leaving my home, but none of it works. I have this tired feeling that none of its going to amount to a hill of beans. In fact, writing and publication can be an entirely self-determined activity these days. If the publishing pundits dont go for your book, theres always self-publishing and e-books on your website. In other words, your book does matter, and you really have no excuse. (Acid test: if the book keeps on patiently urging you to sit down and write it for months and even years, chances are youd better do it.)
We think we dont know how to write a book. Guess what? Neither does any other first time writer. And that may be a wonderful thing because you dont com in with a carload of expectations and demands from your process. Youre just open, like well, a nice blank book. All you really need is your intuition, and the will to write your book as honestly as you can.
We have no support. You need someone in your corner, cheering you on, to get through the long and somewhat tiring process of birthing a book. Thats why my Self-Help Authors Crash Course is not an e-book (believe me, it would be easier!) but a 12-week teleclass series. Because these writers need a place to show up and be accountable for their progress. They need someone to keep saying, Yes, you really can do this. Thats how tricky and difficult our minds are when it comes to big challenges.
Were afraid well run out of material. There isnt a writer out there who hasnt had this fear. And Im here to say that if you just stay loose and open, and willing to receive the ideas, they will show up. All you have to do is commit really sit down, and begin to bring that book into being and the work will magically appear. Sometimes it wont flow that easily, and sometimes it will scare you with its speed and power. But it will, indeed, show up.
We think Who am I to write a book? And yet, you are the perfect person to write your book, because youre the one chosen to receive this material. (You dont have to be spiritually inclined to believe this.) I personally believe that books are given to us when were ready to receive them and when we do, our lives are changed by that process.
We fear uncomfortable moments. Ah, but thats the most exciting thing about writing your book. You will be given challenges and lessons that just seem untenable along the way. And if youre committed enough, youll rise above them and so become stronger in the process. This is especially true for self-help books: we write what we need to learn.
Im here to urge you to just get on with your book. Not only do you deserve it so do we.

Customer Review: Jonas Brothers are all Talent!!!
I purchased this CD as a christmas gift for my son who LOVES the Jonas Brothers music. This is such a cool CD I think I've listened to it more than he has!
Customer Review: 3-1/2 stars -- All in the family
When the Jonas Brothers first emerged in 2006, it seemed like they were trying to be the Hanson of the new millennium -- albeit with electric guitars instead of acoustic guitars. I didn't pick up their first album It's About Time, but I decided to check out their self-titled album.
This is another one of those albums where instead of a few long songs, there are a whole bunch of short songs. But most of them do stand out, like "Hello Beautiful", "Goodnight and Goodbye" and "Hold On". The best song, though, would probably have to be "When You Look Me in the Eyes".
There are also a handful of songs that I can do without, like "Australia", "Still in Love with You" and "That's Just the Way We Roll". The obligatory what's-wrong-with-the-world song "Hollywood" neither helps nor hurts the album, nor does the update to Kim Wilde's "Kids in America", titled "Kids of the Future". Speaking of remakes, "Year 3000" was already on their first album, so why is it HERE?
While Joe, Kevin and Nick probably don't appeal to many people outside of the Radio Disney fanbase, they still have the skills to stick around for a while, so their self-titled album is a good effort.

Customer Review: Passed exam with 910
The book was not extremely useful for this exam, basically its just a recap of the materials learnt in all other exams. The book did however provide a great refresh of this information and the practice questions on the simulator included prepare you for the exam well.
Customer Review: Good summary but missing specific details
Overall this book was a great review and summary of some of the information covered on the 70-297 vendor exam. However, it was missing some specific details about material that was covered on the vendor exam. The case studies did a great job of preparing you for the type of format you will see on the exam but the content was not nearly as in-depth or challenging as on the vendor exam. IF you are looking for the quintessential book to prepare for the vendor exam, this is not it. However, as a review of major concepts it is right on.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire brings back Harry, Ron, and Hermione for more adventure! Harry is mysteriously selected as the fourth contestant in the dangerous Triwizard Tournament. Each competitor in the international competition must confront a fire-breathing dragon, rescue friends from the icy depths of the Black Lake, and navigate the twisting mysteries of a vast, dangerous maze. It may sound difficult, but Harry is older, wiser and more skilled now. Still, even he isn't ready for another show with the evil Lord Voldemort himself!
Customer Review: Controls not explained!
Let me start off with the good things:
-the graphics are phenomenal
-you can choose your character
Now, the bad things:
-unlike the other HP games, you CANNOT wander around the Hogwarts grounds, which I enjoyed.
-The mouse has NO action whatsoever, not even in the main menu!
-I get stuck on so many levels, because most controls are NOT EXPLAINED! Not even in the manual!
-your "friends" (whoever you're not playing with) are so slow in following you and are almost always occupied with sneezing or wandering around when you need help so badly!
-I tried to install this game for one full year and never got it to install until I did some tricky things
Overall, I would have rated this game five stars if the bad things were fixed.
I think that EA Games was just porting over a Play Station game (I can tell by the graphics style) and not bothering to make it anymore convenient. EA did a poor job here. I would sort of recommend this game.
Customer Review: The worst. Period.
I LOVED the first four (SS, CoS, TPoA, and QWC) games.
The first one was a little too easy (I beat it in three days after some practice), the second one being a bit too hard (I have a fear of fire snails), the Third one and Quiddich World Cup being perfect.
When I bought the first game I was expecting another GREAT game. But here is what I got: graphics that were grainy, NO exploring, and no fun trunks with goodies. it was a HARD game, and i'm still stuck on the second task. I can't believe I decided to buy PetVet later because I wanted this. Here's hoping you can explore in the fifth one.
