Ebooks: An Overlooked Goldmine?
Estimates now indicate that ebook sales have surpassed both the audiocassette and the audio CD in consumer preference. Ebooks are also ranked second only to traditional book publishing in current sales.
From an entrepreneurial standpoint, one of the greatest difficulties in looking at revenue producing ideas is to arrive at the party early enough to see the largest return on investment. The truth is ebooks may have been the best entrepreneurial choice in 2004, but as sales continue to climb ebooks are still an incredible investment tool.
Ebooks are one of the least expensive ways to publish and the end result is not reliant on a very fussy editor. You are able to retain an incredibly large portion of each sale; a percentage that far exceeds standard book royalties.
The ebooks being produced today do not conform to a single topic or style. They run the gamut from non-fiction to poetry, and children?s to fiction.
While it is true that anyone CAN develop an ebook it is equally true that not every ebook is a best seller. Many individuals see ebooks as an opportunity for wealth development, but either don?t spend enough time developing the ebook, they lack the skills to write or they have chose a topic that is either overdone or holds little interest in the market.
Many non-writing business owners have worked with freelance writers to develop a product on their behalf. This is done on a write-for-hire basis. In essence an author will draft the ebook contents and the business owner will assign their name to the finished product having purchased all rights to the work from the author.
In this way the business owner can be reasonably assured they have a product the consumer is interested in purchasing and stands the best chance of not only returning the cost of development, but can go on to produce additional and long-term wealth for the owner of the work.
Some authors have seen as much as $6,000 monthly from the sale of popular ebook titles. When you consider that ebooks can be placed on a website and transactions can take place without your involvement it becomes easy to see this type of business opportunity as a great business opportunity with minimal maintenance.
Ebooks can easily be an added feature to an existing business. What?s more, they can also be spun off in an affiliated agreement scenario where your title is available on other sites with a portion of the sale going to the affiliate and a portion to you as content owner.

The Western Digital 2.0 GB external hard drive is great. It backs up my computer automatically every night with tons or room to spare to download music, movies, etc. I highly recommend this hard drive.
Customer Review: Ticking Time Bomb
I received this drive for Christmas. It lasted two and a half months of light use before failing inexplicably. Blinking front indicator light, but the drive won't spin up and no computer I connect it to will recognize it. The day before it worked fine. Tech support was unhelpful, and I'm loathe to exchange the unit for another from the manufacturer. The drive is sealed inside the plastic shell, making removal difficult. I would not use this drive for anything valuable, it's cheaply made and untrustworthy.
Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends - Percy's Chocolate Crunch
Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends - Percy's Chocolate Crunch
As the title suggests, chocolate is involved in the main story's obligatory train crash. Because of a water shortage, Sir Topham Hatt's motto is "Usefulness before cleanliness," but when Bon Bon Percy plows through a factory wall and ends up doused in dessert topping, he earns himself a washdown. The other 5 stories involve Bill and Ben, the buffer brothers; self-important Gordon and his rivalry with Salty; Petersam losing two whistles; and resolving the question of who gets to transport the mouse-fearing opera singer Allicia Botti. The stories deal with the frequent "Thomas" theme of how jealousies, petty fights, and rivalries keep trains from working together. The use of anthropomorphic vehicles somehow makes the message more subtle--and thus more palatable--than many other children's series. A music video sung by children lauding the virtues of small engines wraps up this 38-minute program. (Ages 3 to 7) --Kimberly Heinrichs

Customer Review: What happened to Gordon's voice??
We got this DVD after our 3 year old saw the cover and became fixated on learning the story. I was glad to be getting another disc narrated by Alec Baldwin, since our first two were Make Someone Happy and Races, Rescues and Runaways, and as a result the voicings by George Carlin, Ringo Starr, and whoever it is doing the current series on PBS just don't sound right. So strong is our association of the Baldwin voices with the Thomas characters that when I thought I saw Baldwin at the theater last week, I wanted to go up and tell him how much I appreciated his work on Thomas - the engines are all very distinctive and characterful.
Imagine my shock, then, when Gordon first speaks - and he has an average voice, not the unmistakeable deep bass of our earlier DVDs. My whole problem with Carlin is that he doesn't realize that Gordon has a deep voice, and now it seems like Baldwin doesn't either. Worse still, instead of his (obviously correct) clipped air-traffic-controller voice, Harold now speaks like some weird British eccentric - ridiculous!
I can only guess these are some of the first episodes Baldwin recorded, before he figured out the engines' *true* voices. So, be warned - if you want to know what the engines really sound like, go for Races, Rescues and Runaways!

Apple MacBook Pro MA895LL/A 15.4" Laptop (2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, 120 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD SuperDrive)
Apple MacBook Pro MA895LL/A 15.4" Laptop (2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, 120 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD SuperDrive)
Stylishly and intelligently designed for mobile professionals, Apple's MacBook Pro gets a serious speed bump with the new, powerful Intel chipset (dubbed Santa Rosa), which provides a faster Core 2 Duo processor, longer battery life, and native support for 802.11n wireless connectivity. This model (MA895LL/A) also includes a new mercury-free, power-efficient LED-backlit display measuring 15.4 inches and a state-of-the art NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT video card for more realistic graphics for animation and gaming. This MacBook Pro is powered by the new 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo T7500 processor and 2 GB of 667 MHz DDR2 memory--the fastest portable computer memory currently on the market (June 2007). But some things haven't changed: the trademark stunning aluminum enclosure that's is just one-inch thin, built-in iSight video camera, and Apple's magnetically connected MagSafe power adapter, which safely disconnects when under strain.
![]() This MacBook Pro measures just 1 inch thin and weighs 5.4 pounds. |
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
The Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 processor has a 2.2 GHz processor speed, super-fast 800 MHz front-side bus (FSB), and an enormous 4 MB of Smart Cache, an L2 cache that can be shared between the cores as needed. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.)
The Intel Core 2 Duo's 128-bit SSE3 vector engine handles 128-bit computations in a single clock cycle, accelerating data manipulation by simultaneously applying a single instruction to multiple data. And its two execution cores are designed to share resources and conserve power, helping it to achieve higher levels of performance since it uses fewer watts
![]() The new 15-inch MacBook Pro offers a new mercury-free, power-efficient LED-backlit display with an antiglare finish that's perfect for color-minded professionals. |
The 15.4-inch widescreen TFT (non-glossy) display offers a native resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels and an antiglare widescreen display that's perfect for color-minded professionals. The new MacBook Pro display is backlit by light emitting diodes (LEDs), which gives it a lighter weight and more power efficiency than the cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs) which most notebooks employ. It's also better for the environment, thanks to its new mercury-free display.
Video and graphics are powered by the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT card, which is boosted by 128 MB of GDDR3 SDRAM. GDDR3 (Graphics Double Data Rate, version 3) is a graphics card-specific memory technology that's better able to deliver fluid frame rates for even the most advanced games and applications. The GeForce 8600M GT brings a new level of realism to the MacBook Pro with its 16-lane PCI Express architecture, 16x full screen anti-aliasing, 128-bit High Dynamic Range rendering, and a texture fill rate of up to 8.2 billion per second.
Hard Drive and Memory
The 120 GB Serial-ATA (SATA) hard drive (5400 RPM) provides more than enough space to store business-related documents and presentations, as well as offers space for a large digital audio and video library. This SATA hard drive also quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data--akin to FireWire and USB 2.0. The 2 GB of PC5300 DDR2 RAM (two SO-DIMMs of 1 GB) have an industry-leading 667 MHz speed, and the RAM capacity can be increased to a whopping 4 GB.
Wireless Connectivity
The built-in 802.11n wireless networking provides up to five times the performance and twice the range of 802.11g, but it's also backward-compatible with 802.11a/b/g routers, enabling you to communicate with the a wide variety of Wi-Fi resources. It works seamlessly with the new AirPort Extreme with 802.11n. Use the built-in Bluetooth wireless technology to connect to your PDA or cell phone, synchronize addresses, or download pictures from your cell phone. You can also use a wireless headset for iChat audio chats and VoIP calls as well as quickly share files with a colleague.
Video Conferencing with Built-in iSight
Artfully placed in the display bezel is an iSight camera, which enables easy video conferencing as well as allows you to snap pictures of yourself and create video podcasts. Using the iChat AV application, video conferencing is integrated into your iChat buddy list, so initiating a video conference is a breeze. iChat also lets you hold audio chats with up to 10 people and provides high-quality audio compression and full-duplex sound so conversation can flow naturally. For video podcasting, you can record a short clip using the iSight camera, then use iWeb to create a video blog entry or post your GarageBand-recorded podcast.

Customer Review: MacBook Pro
The MacBook Pro is great, looks great and works well. The only thing is the new operating system wasn't loaded to the laptop but the disk was included. Other than that, everything is great. Love it.
Customer Review: MacBook Pro
I bought this computer one month ago and the price has dropped $305! I bought an Apple for its reputation as a reliable system. This one crashes regularly, especially when I attempt to use the help function. Also, it does not pick up wireless signals unless they are very, very strong. My six-year old Toshiba works better than this machine. Definitely not worth the premium paid.

Each of the 231 species is illustrated with original full-color artwork from renowned marine artist Kevin R. Brant. The book answers many common questions, providing specific information about the type of fish, its range and habitat, identifying features, whether or not it is good to eat, the average and record size of each fish and the best fishing methods to catch them.
Customer Review: Overall Great Book
I think the book is pretty good. The pictures are detailed and colorful, then it gives the basic lowdown on all the fish, and I really like that it gives you at least an idea of edibility. I also liked that they included a section for freshwater fish. I kind of wish it could have talked more about typical methods to catch the different fish, but I guess the book can't have everything..Overall a great book.

Customer Review: Many lies about this game. Better than a lot of people claim.
First of all, let me be adamant that THERE IS NO "CONVERT OR KILL" IN THE GAME. Sorry for the caps, but it's necessary to be firm against the lies being spread about this game. From the game manual, to the game itself, to the game and company websites, it is made very, very clear that "convert or kill" is NOT the goal of the game. The goal of the game is to save people from the Antichrist. In fact, here's is a direct quote from the manual: "YOUR GOAL: Save as many people from the clutches of the Antichrist as possible. Your purpose is absolutely NOT to wipe out the enemy forces." The manual does briefly touch on very rare circumstances where you might be forced to fight defensively and kill or be killed, but your best (and often your only) offense and defense is spiritual warfare, i.e. using non-combatant singers and recruiters to turn units to your side (or at least neutral).
Furthermore, the game is neither racist nor sexist. While the units all look alike, this is simply for the sake of convenience and to avoid confusion. Any "Muslim names" people have complained about are a non-issue as there are many, many other types of names. Some have complained that female units can't become builders and this makes the game sexist, but they ignore the fact that only female units can become the most powerful units in the game.
As far as the game itself, it makes you plan moves and think out strategies instead of massing soldiers and weaponry to slaughter your enemies. It's very fun when you get the hang of it (and realize that unlike traditional gaming, brute force isn't the best option and can often be the worst).
Left Behind Games has been very faithful to players and has made sure to issue several patches to address technical and gameplay concerns. The game as it is now with all patches installed is very stable and easily playable.
The game's appearance is above average with top-notch recreations of New York City streets right down to street signs (which are readable!), mailboxes and banks of payphones. The advertising in the game is minimal and hardly noticeable when you are concentrating on playing.
In short, "Eternal Forces" is a very good offering from a brand new company and a brand new genre.
Customer Review: The game that should be Left Behind. Waste of money!
I just recieved this game for Christmas and was really excited to get it. That was untill I played it! The movies put out by this series are impressive the game is a total waste of money. In the first part of the game you are told to: "Beware of the evil musicians, their screaming guitars will take your soul away!" And you are literally killed by these evil rockstar musicians and kicked out of the game. Your only defense is to pray really hard, or kick someone (Not much of attack when people are coming at you with weapons!) Oh, and by the way there are literally dotted lines drawn in most of he city so that you can not advance beyond those points until it lets you! And to walk you have to keep clicking on the walk button and then move your mouse to where you want to go. Your character keeps saying stupid things like: "I'll go!" or "That's a good idea!" (He says this every time you make him move!) Graphics are basic and when you push on your letter buttons (On the keyboard) they make sounds but your character does nothing. P.S. Most Christians do not believe that rock music will take your soul away! I kept the free Left Behind Book and I threw the game away! I don't know who made this game, but they should deffinately look into a new field of work!
Peanuts: Easter Beagle Charlie Brown
Peanuts: Easter Beagle Charlie Brown
The thirteenth installment in the evergreen Charlie Brown animated series, It's The Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown, is a delightful romp through the rites of spring. The running gag that holds this string of episodic misadventures together is Peppermint Patty's futile attempts at explaining how to make Easter eggs to Marcy. Highlights of this rather surreal Peanuts outing include Snoopy's dancing with little bunny rabbits inside a kaleidoscope, Sally heading to the mall to purchase a pair of platform shoes (this video was made in 1974), and Woodstock's lavishly equipped bachelor-pad birdhouse. As with the best of the Peanuts cartoons, this will entertain children and adults alike, and is one of the last of the series to feature a music score by Vince Guaraldi. --Kristian St. Clair
Customer Review: Comes with Bonus TV Special
This classic story is as cute as ever on DVD and it comes with a bonus special...It's Arbor Day Charlie Brown...which is also really cute and perfect to watch in the spring. Buy and enjoy!
Customer Review: An Fulfilling Easter Treat
In IT'S THE EASTER BEAGLE, CHARLIE BROWN, Sally longs for a new pair of shoes to wear on Easter Sunday, Peppermint Patty attempts to teach Marcy how to die Easter eggs, Snoopy buys Woodstock a new birdhouse, and Linus tries to convince everyone that they should ignore the apparent hustle and bustle of preparing for Easter and stop worrying because the Easter Beagle will take care of everything. Linus' story reminds Sally of the Great Pumpkin just a little too much, but she wants to believe her Sweet Baboo. Complete with a familiar, though this time subtle anti-consumerism message and an unintentional allegory about faith, IT'S THE EASTER BEAGLE, CHARLIE BROWN is a spring-time treat that families can enjoy watching together.
This remastered deluxe version of IT'S THE EASTER BEAGLE, CHARLIE BROWN also includes a second television special, a special featurette, and a few trailers. The second Peanuts episode on the disc is IT'S ARBOR DAY, CHARLIE BROWN. Sally is given a school assignment to research Arbor Day. Her quest leads her to wanting to plant trees, flowers, and a garden. Lucy, Linus, and a few others join her and start growing a bunch of plants on Charlie Brown's baseball field. Charlie Brown is shocked when the season opener against Peppermint Patty's team rolls around and he finds his field has been turned into a garden. But, the game goes on and surprisingly Charlie Brown's gets a winning run and leads the game.
The featurette on the DVD is "In Full Bloom: Peanuts at Easter" offers an inside look at the creation of IT'S THE EASTER BEAGLE, CHARLIE BROWN. The featurette explores how the special came to me, Schulz's intentions in the making of the cartoon, what people take away from watching it, etc.
A must-have for Peanuts fans as well as a good Easter video that entire families can watch together.
Richard Scarry's Best Busy People Video Ever!: (Kids First Award winner)
Richard Scarry's Best Busy People Video Ever!: (Kids First Award winner)
Huckle, Lowly Worm, and rest of the schoolchildren are inspired by their teacher's discussion about different kinds of occupations and what people in those fields do all day. The kids run to the schoolyard for some make-believe, playing at what they'd like to be when they grow up. Huckle becomes a grocer like his father, Freddie Fox a baker specializing in mud pies, and Rhonda Raccoon a truck driver delivering baked goods. Consistent with the usual excellence of the Richard Scarry video series, Best Busy People introduces the concept of how a complicated society functions, with everyone's job having an impact on everyone else's. The jokes are funny, the songs are sweet, and Scarry's popular book What Do People Do All Day? makes great supplementary reading. --Tom Keogh
Customer Review: Not enough time to enjoy it
It's a nicely narrated Richard Scarry story, but it cuts too short, not allowing a child time to learn the main characters. For the price I paid I would have preferred 2 or 3 Scarry episodes.
Customer Review: Best DVD - period.
We are on our second copy of the DVD - grandson's absolute favorite. We link to the book for discussion.

The MacBook Pro has battery life that rivals most notebooks in its class. If you'd like to make that battery last even longer, Mac OS X has a few tricks up its sleeve. Go to System Preferences, click Energy Saver, and change battery optimization from Normal to Better Battery Life. Or tell MacBook Pro to reduce its screen brightness and give yourself a little more time untethered.
And with the included Apple Remote and Front Row software, you can show off your latest photos and access your iTunes music and playlists from across the room. You can also use it to watch downloaded movies and TV episodes as well as control playback of DVD movies. The Apple Remote features a minimalist six buttons--just press the Menu button to activate Front Row and begin to navigate through your media.
